Milestones in Orwak’s history

1971  

Orwak was founded and the business concept was based on the idea that waste must be compacted safely and cleanly. The first in-bag-compactor Orwak 5030, a patented solution, was invented, constructed and displayed at major exhibitions in London and Paris.

1973  

The year when Orwak went international! Several distributors were established in Europe and the start of Orwak UK was a success from day one. Orwak were committed to giving its customers the possibility of sorting and compacting in one machine and the models Orwak 5032 and Orwak 5033 were born.

1978  

The first big baler was designed and Orwak was the first to market it with a unique concept – the Multi Chamber Baler. This system later became a huge success that contributed to Orwak’s continued growth worldwide.

The early 1980’s  

Orwak conquered the supermarket business in the UK. All major target groups chose our unique multi-chamber-baler model 8020 and thousands of units were installed!

1981  

A number of new markets and distributors were developed.

1984  

Orwak USA Inc. was inaugurated. The unique trash compactor Orwak 5030 was readily accepted by major fast food companies, restaurant and hotels. Model Orwak 8010, the fastest down-stroke baler in the world with a cycle time of just 10 seconds, was born!

1988  

A new product joined the family – the smaller multi-chamber-baler Orwak 5070.

1989  

The French market was first to demand a compactor for plastic bins and Orwak was first again, introducing its simple but effective in-bin- compactor model Orwak 4000.

1990  

Orwak entered the Japanese market. 

1995  

Orwak continued to expand and we moved to our current production facilities.

1996  

Our heavy-duty baler model Orwak 5070-HD was launched, at first targeted at the Japanese market with tough requirements for speed and bale density. 

1997  

The smallest and the biggest Orwak baler were born – the models Orwak 3100 and 3600 respectively – and they very quickly became a huge success. Orwak also introduced a compactor for larger plastic bins – model Orwak 4100.

1998  

Orwak started a sales company in Poland - a promising future market!
The sheet metal part of the production was moved into our current facilities, making Orwak a complete manufacturer.

2001  

Presona and Morinders were acquired and the Orwak Group was formed.

2001-2002 

A brand new line of vertical balers was launched to further boost Orwak’s growth.

2003  

At The Cologne Fair, Orwak proudly revealed its latest development - model Orwak 3300 – a low-built baler that has an attractive and user-friendly design. Another unique product line was introduced to the market. The “Little Elephant” – the first attractive and quiet baler/compactor for FrontLine decentralized applications in, e.g. offices, shops and pharmacies.

2005  

Tomra acquired Orwak.

2006

Brickman was integrated in the Orwak-assortment.

2007

Orwak introduced the concept “The Silent Family” when the three new models Orwak 3210, Orwak 3410 and Orwak 3810 with silent operation were launched. These new models replaced the classic models Orwak 3200, Orwak 3400 and Orwak 3800.

2008

Orwak introduced Orwak 3410 Sliding door and Orwak 3610, which are both equipped with auto start as standard. Model 3610 is the largest and most powerful front loaded baler in the assortment and it replaced the predecessor Orwak 3600.

2009
There was an addition in The Silent Family when the little twins Orwak 3105 und 3110 were born! With their compact design and small size they fit where the customer wants them to be. 

2010

Orwak introduced yet another 50-ton-baler, Orwak 3605, in January 2010. The new baler offers the customers an alternative to 3610, if they require other dimensions of the bales to fit into a different logistics system. In May 2010 Orwak launched the model Orwak 3115 - a baler with cross-binding, the efficient in-bin-compactor Orwak 4110 and the automatic waste bin Orwak 1030.
